Cairns CAIRNS 4 DAY TRIP QUERY
Posted: Fri August 24, 2007 12:14 PM UTC
Hi,

I'll be in Cairns next week for four days, and haven't planned a thing. Would love some recommendations on the best places to visit and stay on a relatively tight budget. No hostels please, I like my privacy.

Thanks in advance

Places to visit include Kuranda, "The Village in the Rainforest". You could go one way by cable car and the other on the historic railway. Also the Great Barrier Reef of course, there are several day trips. If you like beaches the villages of Palm Cove and Trinity Beach are good places, just north of Cairns. Also Atherton Tableland, Cape Trib - four days isn't long so what you can see will be limited.

My daughter and I were in Cairns in april last year for 4 days, so I went to Google and typed in Cairns tourism. I got heaps of information and chose a 3 day package with downunderdive, com.au They were excellent. The first day they picked us up at the Hotel and we spent the day snorkelling at 2 different locations on the reed. The second day picked up and taken on the spectacular historic train journey to Kuranda and back via the Skyway rainforest cableway. Third day picked up and a full day visit up along the coast to Cape Tribulation including a boat ride on the Daintree river. The whole thing was the best way to see lots and it was good value. We paid $295, and I just found the addresss below seems it has gone up in price. We did the 3 day package option 4. Have a look

Hi, a visit to the Great Barrier Reef and a visit to Cape Trib, stopping at Mossman Gorge, Daintree (including a Daintree River cruise) and Port Douglas for a short look around are kind of unmissable.

Regarding staying at hostels, I know some that offer private rooms.

Cheers,
Maria
