Bangladesh Flooding
Posted: Fri August 24, 2007 10:15 AM UTC
Hi all,
I have read that there is flooding in Bangladesh and that food and water is in short supply. I have also read that there is a state of emergency. Should I indefinately postpone the trip or is it safe for tourists?
Thanks for the advice,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Yes , almost onethird of the country was flooded, but now its normal and flood water one away. though you did not noticed about your travel time.

Its true that there r state of emergency imposed, and it was imposed for political unrest as general ellection had close to come. Now there are also no political unrest at present. And I think you are safe as a tourist.

there are no embargo or ban to visit any area in here for any foreign tourist.

Thanks for your interest to visit this land ,
Hope and wish you a safe pleasent trip.

Flooding is primarily in outlying low-level areas (outside the main cities like Dhaka) although you may catch a glimpse of the high water level now and then it's mainly a news-item for most city-dwellers instead of an actual problem.

I am booked to travel to Bangladesh in a couple of weeks' time, and like Andrew, I too am concerned about the recent floods and subsequent crisis. Will my presence in Bangladesh add to the already stretched resources or will my tourist dollar be welcome at this time?
