my flight from venice to catania has been cancelled. other than driving, is there a train from venice to catania or some other form of travel?

There is a train service to Sicily via Rome so whatever departure you chose you have to change there. Then you might also end up having to change at either Naples or Messina but there are a bunch of direct ones from Rome so I'd go for that. It takes 15-16 hours all in all so you might want to check the schedules with www.trenitalia.it to know when in the day to set off for your convenience :)

I dont see the problem. There are four flights every day from Venice to Catania, with WindJet and AlpiEagles.
Which Airline has canelled on you, and how much notice did they give and what reason?
Airlines dont 'cancel' flights in advance. generally, unless they are winding up the business.

You can always try to find a flight in to Lamezia Terme, Calabria from Venice then its just a short ferry ride across to Messina in Sicily.
