| Ljubljana | LJUBLJANA IN GENERAL Posted: Thu August 23, 2007 02:27 PM UTC
Hi world. I'm off to LJUBLJANA soon. Anyone stayed recently in the Grand Hotel Executive? Anyone know any good restaurants, bars and clubs playing r'n'b or salsa? How much is an average meal, a coffee or a packet of Marlboro over there?
Thanks |

Hi. A pack of Malboro should be around 2,30, I think. Coffee is around 1,20-1,60, it depends on what sort of coffee you drink. A glass of wine can be 1 euro or more- again, it depends which one you want.
You didn't mention what type of food you like. Pizza could be 6 euro or more, or a nice meal in a Mexican restaurant could be 13 as well. I think there is r'n'b in club Global. Good pubs are around Ljubljanica river near Preseren square.

Marlborough are 2.50 euros, coffee from 1 euro (depends where you buy it and what type). Meals depend where you eat, but say from around 6 - 10 euros for a main course in a central place. Prices are slightly higher in the city centre than further out, obviously. There are a couple of very good Mexican places, some gostilnas serving traditional dishes and plenty of other restaurants/cafes with food. Look at the VT Ljubljana tips for details and recommendations.
I stayed at the Grand Hotel Union Garni at Easter (have just come back from my second visit to Slovenia); it was fine, and as the Executive is more expensive I'm sure it will be equally fine, if not better. Have a look at the VT Ljubljana pages/tips for more useful info.

There's a converted prison that is used as a hostel now in the very center of Ljubljana, each room is decorated in its own style. Considered to be among 25 world's ultimate experiences by Rough Guides.

There`s plenty of good restaurants. Kaval, Cubo restaurant, Mexican, Turkish ... it all depends what you are looking for. About night happening you can choose from few different places. The hotel you are asking for has a good reputation so I am sure you will like it.
