Karachi Please Help: Want to Travel to Karachi from Mumbai
Posted: Wed August 22, 2007 03:23 PM UTC
Hi All,
I tried everything to find about this..but in vain. I hope I will get some help
from here.

I am an Indian National working in Pune,India and I want to travel to Peshawar through Karachi(since Peshawar cant be an entry point according to Pak High Commission) to meet some friends. I tried to search for flights and I think, Mum to Karachi flights are available. Now, the main problem is getting a Visa.

Can anyone tell me, how to get the Visa easily. Can any travel agents do it
for me? I read on an official site that approved tour operators/travel agents
can get you the visa. Does anyone know of any?

I know I have to be present at the high commission office of Pakistan,New Delhi,
But before that I want to make sure that I have all the documents and all ready?
That is the reason I need a travel agent.

Another question is:
1. Do I need to have the tickets booked before applying for the visa? and
How logn will take to get it.

2. I am going there to meet some friends..not relatives. Does it create any
problems in visa processing?

I am new to this site..so I have no idea what kinda question to ask.
My apologies if my questions look dumb.

Thank you so much.
-Ahmed.

Dear Ahmad. This note from Karachi.Sorry to note that you have bad experience with our diplomatic mail system.I am not surprised. Just to give some hints: My elder brother and his wife (aged 70s) and their son (39) visited me very recently by train (Thar Express)and saved a huge sum .Traveltime about 30 hrs..The embassy people easily grant visas to see relatives on production of letter etc from Pakistan. In your case please try to get some kind of personal invitations from Peshawer in writing which should be convincing. There are innumerable 'agents' on the spot who not fill forms, guide and fecilitate applicants.Ask somebody in Delhi to find out before you go there.
Good Luck and welcome.

Thanks aghani Aghani.

actually I am travelling to Pakistan for the first time,
so want to make it as simple as possible.

You said..".The embassy people easily grant visas to
see relatives on production of letter etc from Pakistan."

What kind of letter is this? I called embassy, they said,
" they require a NOC(in FAX)from Pak Interior, Islamabad.
This has to be done by my friends over there, whom I am visiting"..

Do you have any idea, what kind of document your elder
brother got from Pak...? Did you have to go to Pak interiros
office??

I am going there to meet some of my friends there. Its been about
6-7 years..so i think it is rt time to meet them. But,,i am totally
clueless as to how to make my case strong.

I really appreciate any lil help.

Thanks,
Ahmed.

No..the mail has not reached them..it bounced back.
and anyway..i don't think they ll block mails from
Indian IPs. Because, this mail id is of "Pak embassy in
India" and it is there to serve Indians too.

Thanks,
Ahmed.

Dear Ahmed, Hello again.Things with my brother went like this:When I found out that my brother wanted to visit me I wrote a letter in my own hand writing in Urdu and Hindi (could have been English also) and posted it through Speed Post of Pakistan Post.In the letter I mentioned that I am not feeling well and often have to seek hospitalisation etc. I invited them to visit me as soon as possible. They personally went to Visa section in Delhi. On reading the letter and seeing the post marks etc they asked couple of simple questions before granting visa. The Police registration people in Karachi were most cordial.
In your case I think your friend should write a personal letter ( on letter head , if in business) prefarbly in hand writing , to give it a personal touch.
Interalia he can invite you to come to Pakistan to renew the bonds, attend some family event like wedding etc. Send the letter by urgent post or thru some courrior . Bottom line is give it a personal touch.
Get all the details of friend like full postal address, telephone numbers etc and mention it in visa application. Travel time = As soon as possible ( no dated to be mentioned. Period of stay = 2 months ( only 30 days will be granted).
The actual visa fee is Rs.15 (they charge Rs.40). There are always "agents' at the premises to facilitate and fill the forms.Pl don't fall into any trap.
Please don't forget to take your old passport if you have visited earlier or not.
Neither I nor my brother ever visited Interior ministry.
In my opinion advance purchase of ticket does not help.
Glad to be of any service.
Good Luck again
