| Palermo | Hop on Hop Off Bus Posted: Wed August 22, 2007 02:56 PM UTC
I will be in Palermo for one day off of a cruise. Is the hop on hop off bus worth it or is Palermo easily toured on foot? Also is Monreale a don't misss sight? What is the best way to get there from the port? Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge, there is only one bus service that offers a tour of Palermo. It's called Giro Citta and leaves at 9am from Teatro Politeama(Emerico Amari side)on a daily basis. It takes in sites like the Duomo and the Royal Palace. Tickets are purchased on board for about 13 euros.
For Monreale you will need to use bus no; 389 which leaves from Piazza Independenzia on an hourly basis. For info on the bus tour of Palermo call:091 6902690 Of course, you could try walking around Palermo, but it's a big city and if you're only there for one day, you're not going to see much of it. Even if you take the tour, I doubt you have time for Monreale as well.
