| Cusco | Cusco in November-December Posted: Tue August 21, 2007 08:44 PM UTC
I'm traveling to Peru in late November till mid December. Anyone know what kind of weather i'll encounter? I want to get to Machu Picchu before December. Any thoughts would be helpful. Also a small list of what i would need to hike up(ie shoes, boots? poncho? shorts, pants?).

Hello, I'm peruvian so i think i can help you a bit, November is a good time for visiting Lima and the coast of Peru because it is summer, but in the Andes, which includes Cusco the weather is different, it will be probably raining over there, so, you will need both clothes for hot weather and for cold weather, the summer in Lima is not so hot, it's about 26ºC so i think it wouldn't be a problem. If you need more information, just write me, my email: rvid_ar@hotmail.com

In places near the sea it will be warm in November/Dec and until March/April.
In the Andes/ Sierra where Cuzcois, it'll be the begn of the wet season. Sometimes it rains a lot sometimes it doesn't. Last year it was particularly dry. If you come from a cold place you'll find the weather very pleasant. It gets cold earning morning & after 6 pm, but morning and early afternoon it's always warm in the Andes. Take a good winter jacket/ warterproof, good boots + t-shirts. You can buy really good alpaca wool jumpers cheaply when you get to Cuzco as well as extra pair of trousers. Prices are really cheap. Do not worry about feeling cold.
