Will be leaving Coolum after breakfast and travelling into Brisbane and looking for two nights bed and breakfast central to shopping, lunchtime cruise, see the city generally. Would like to dispense with car for the time.Cannot decide if the Eton on Roma st. would be suitable location. Any help appreciated.

Roma St is central. I do not know of many B&B's. Mariott is in a good location at the end of Eagle St on the river, but Roma st is just as good.

Hi We have stayed at 2 different hotels in the last year, both on Wickham terrace which runs around the Roma Street Parklands and less than 10 minutes walk to Queen Street city shopping mall.
The Watermark Hotel overlooks Roma Street parklands and 5 minute walk to train station.
Astor Metropole Hotel, Tower Block - Best Western

Both were good and have rooms at various price ranges, we stayed in the better rooms. Photos on my Brisbane pages.
Good Luck,
Mike

The Astor Metropole has self catering units, refrigerator, microwave, hotplates , the lot, but our deal came with breakfast in the restaurant.

We stayed at the Chifley at Lennons in the Queens Street Mall which is close to everything as well as the river. They have a deal whereby if you stay for 2 or more nights, you receive complimentary breakfast.
