My friend will be travelling from Milan to Sirmione. However we are getting confused cause the train station in Sirmione is named Desenzano Del Garda. Is this where the train stops? So how should he reach Sirmione from Desenzano?

By bus. Look also for buses from Verona which may be more frequent.

The following webpage points to at least one example of bus schedules from Desenzano del Garda to Sirmione - http://www.trasporti.regione.lombardia.it/trl_index.htm
Note that "FER6" is Monday through Saturday, and "FEST" is Sunday. Note that "Desenzano d. Garda staz.FS" is the train station in Desenzano. "Sirmione staz. autolinee" is the bus station in Sirmione. Most days, there is at least one bus an hour (sometimes more) from Desenzano to Sirmione. Bill
