Leeds Travel Forum

Hi we are planning on coming to Leeds,Bradford area for business Sept 16-19. Am looking for some nice lodging in the area,I saw a place called residence 6. What is it like? Do you have any sighseeing reccomendations for the other people in our group to do? We are not sure if we should rent a car(driving sides or road is backward for us) or just use public transportations. Any one have any help or suggestions?? Residence 6 has very good online reviews, so I suspect you will not be disappointed if you use it (although it is not really a hotel, more like very posh serviced apartments.....you'll have to organise your own breakfast etc).

Don't bother with hiring a car for such a short stay; use trains and buses, with perhaps the odd taxi if you want/can afford it. Definitely take the train to York (www.nationalrail.co.uk for times and fares) and spend as much time as you can there (look at the VT pages for information).

The trains to Leeds from Manchester Airport are every 20 minutes or so ( see www.transpennineexpres.co.uk). Fast and new trains with drinks and snacks and the ride is very scenic. Do not drive - there is no need and its simply not recommended. The trains are cheap and frequent to most places - think about Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ilkley , Skipton or Haworth for sight seeing - there are good VT pages on these towns - Haworth is my top recommendation. You take a train to Keighley ( wwww.northernrail.co.uk) and then an old steam train (www.kwvr.co.uk).
