Dear co-VT member,

Whoever you are, don't be worried about your brother going to Bukidnon. And don't be a worrier, especially when it comes to travel, period. Bukidnon is a nice mountain village/town in the province of Misamis Oriental of the big southern island of Mindanao in the Philippines. The nearest city of arrival and jumping-off point is Cagayan de Oro, a lovely provincial university town, a good hour bus ride to Bukidnon. There are frequent buses from there to Bukidnon. If your brother is from out of the country - Philippines, that is - you fly into Manila of course and catch a flight to Cagayan de oro. At some point, you ought to visit your travel far-sighted brother in Bukidnon. The mountain air there and her waters are known for their healing theraphies.

In addition, Bukidnon is home to Mindanao's freshest vegetables and flowers, big cattle ranches, and indigenous tribal communities. It is known for the Kaamulan Festival (first weekend of March), the Benedictine Monastery of Transfiguration (their coffee is quite good; better than Starbucks' brew), cowboys (yup, real cowboys). It is also accessible by land from Davao City, but as the previous reply mentioned, CDO is a better jump-off point.

You didn't mention which part of Bukidnon province your brother will be staying in. The province is quite big --- it straddles northern and central mindanao.
