| Sorrento | Sorrento & Capri Posted: Mon August 20, 2007 12:56 AM UTC
I will be arriving in port off a cruise in Naples. I want to do Sorrento and Capri in one day. Is that too much? If not would it be best to go to Sorrento first then Capri or Capri then Sorrento? We plan to use the hydrofoils. Thanks!

If you are active and energetic you could conceivably do both Capri and Sorrento in the same day. Get the earliet hydrofoil to Capri and unless you like to shop at designer shops skip the town of Capri itself and at the harbor area go straight for the bus to Anacapri. Once in Anacapri, take the chairlift to the top of Monte Soloro for outstanding views. Poke around Anacapri and have lunch before returning to the harbor area. (If you have time, walk through Capri town to the Giardini di Augusto public gardens - there are excellent views of the faragliones that Capri is so famous for. There are also boat tours of the island that visit these rock formations if you'd rather be on the water.) If you arrive back in Sorrento in the late afternoon, you would have time to explore some of the town before choosing from endless restaurants for dinner before your return hydrofoil to Naples. You could possibly get the hydrofoil schedule in advance off their website so you'd know how much time to allow between legs of the journey. And just remember that Sorrento is up on a cliff quite a hike from the harbor so allow time to walk back down.
