Pack warm clothes because we get cooler temps in Feb than in Dec. If you look towards the end of March, it will be nicer, making for at least Spring "like" temps to do the outside walking. But it's iffy.
You're at the Hyatt and in a great place. From there you can do a walking tour of The Liberty Bell, Betsy's house, Independence Hall, etc. If you haven't seen the movie "National Treasure" it could be a fun thing to do ahead of time, then you will see all of the places from the movie, while you're in Philly. You are just across the river from the Adventure Aquarium. It is NOT SAFE to be there after dark, so plan your visit in the early daylight. Will you have a car? Parking is expensive and tight in the city so just be prepared. You'll have to drive to the Italian Market from your hotel. It's off of 9th and Christian Street and quite fun EARLY in the morning. Go to DiBruno Brothers for the best cheese experience ever! Termini's for baked goods, if you had a fridge, I'd say Talutto's for home made pasta but that won't work for you. The kids may not think it's great, but if they are into a true cultural experience...don't miss it. Walk around the corner to Isgro's their bakery is delish! The market is a place to grab a pork or meatball sandwich, or a great cup of coffee. Write me at gmt1102@yahoo and I'll send you more info.
