Austin is not called "Live Music Capital of the United States" without reason.
Others, that know the town better, will jump at the chance to tell you of the many places where to go. Austin is an amazing place and home to the University of Texas. We've preferred University towns all over the world. Austin just happens to be the biggest. Now the important question: "Are the bats still flying in November?" And no, I'm not talking baseball.

You will want to head to 6th street downtown for the best nightlife and a variety of live music.

Oh, the nightlife here is great all year. Simply go to 6th Street, the Warehouse District, or South Congress. I'm not sure about where you'll find live Texas blues, but check out http://www.austinchronicle.com to see what shows will be playing. You'll probably want to check that website closer to November, but you probably won't have any problems finding a blues show. It's too bad you're not here for the summer, because Zilker Park offers Blues on the Green, which is a free blues concert series throughout the summer. As for buying albums, check out Waterloo Records on the northwest corner of 6th Street and Lamar Blvd.
I'm just going to plug my favorite Austin area blues singer now. I absolutely love Ruthie Foster, and I just checked her schedule. She has a show in Austin on November 8. http://www.ruthiefoster.com

Book a room at the Austin Motel and hang out across the street at the Continental Club
