| Livorno | Cruise Posted: Sat August 18, 2007 01:07 AM UTC
I am taking a Mediterranean cruise with a stop in Liborno. How would I go from the Liborno port to Lucca? I thought there is a train station in Liborno but when I accessed the Italian Rail.com, trying to find the train schedule from Liborno to Lucca, a message came stating that "Liborno" is unrecognized.
I need your help as I would like to visit Lucca. Thanks.. |

Ffirst you must input "Livorno" not Liborno. Lucca is only about a thirty minute drive from the port and there are taxis and rental cars at the port. I felt it took too long to get a train for the short distance. By driving you can stay in Lucca longer or drop over to Pisa as well. Both are within the same region and easy to drive.

Second, use the official website www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html - this will help you see the times of trains, to help judge whether you want to wait for the next train or just find a taxi or bus or whatever...hmmmn, just by taking a quick look, it seems that the trains are not all that often (maybe once an hour), and all require a change, usually in Pisa...

Yes, there are almost no direct connection between Livorno and Lucca, mostly changing in Pisa or Viareggio: Lucca is not on a main rail path, but anyway, the place worth the journey :-)

I just don't know how to write, "um", "er", "uh", and all the other nonsense sounds we put in our speech ;-)...besides, think of "hmmmn" as akin to a mantra...soon you'll be an astral projection and make your way to Italy without all the bother of the planes, trains, and buses...hmmmmn! hmmmn! hmmmn!
