Could you suggest some cheap accomodations in Faro or not far from there? I mean guest houses, small hotels or even a private accomodations.

Pensao Adelaide. A nice small hotel with modern facilities and situated right in the old town, very close to the harbor, bus and train stations and restaurants. Very reasonable and safe.

Any luck on getting any answer from Pensao Adelaide in Faro? You shouldn't have any problem getting a room there even if you simply show up or call on the day of your arrival. They almost always have a room available - at least each time for me when I'm in Faro. Anyway, Faro has plenty of hotels and pensions; it's also good to contact or go directly to the Tourist Office which is located by the harbor and get their help. Good luck.
