Hi,

Appreciate recommendation from anyone for good and inexpensive
hotels nearest to University of Nottingham, preferably walking
distances away.

The nearest hotel to the main campus is the Innkeepers Lodge (known locally as The Priory) - see www.innkeeperslodge.com
Can't comment on quality - looks like standard Travelodge-type rooms. Anyway, it's about half a mile from the western entrance to the campus.

I haven't stayed at the Nottingham Innkeepers Lodge but in the last year or so I have stayed at 3 others - in Devon, Perthshire and Bucks. They are, in my opinion, quite superior to Travel Lodges - which used to be very good but are sliding downhill fast.
At an Innkeeper's Lodge meals are provided in adjacent restaurant, either typical pub food or, as in Nott. a Toby Carvery, where they do a good carvery meal at a very reasonable price with several other options including vegetarian.
