it is true the cinque terra card no longer covers train travel between the 5 cities? what does the card currently cover? shuttle in the villages? passage on the trails? thinking of traveling there in May 2008.

The web site http://www.cinqueterreonline.com/5terrecard.htm says:

"When you purchase the Cinque Terre Card you get: unlimited travel in second class on the trains between Levanto and La Spezia, access to all the services of the National Park of the Cinque Terre, hiking on the "Via Dell’Amore" and the path for Guardiola tower."

I was there in June and used it for the trains but then I was never asked for a ticket except for the Via d'Amore and the bus to Corniglia.

Where did you get the info that the train was no longer covered?

Hi I did find the web site that said it was no longer included http://www.cinqueterre.com/eng/information/card/ and it is not mentioned as included on http://www.parconazionale5terre.it/5terrecardsnuovo_2.asp?id_lingue=2

I am now wondering if we were given the option of buying a train pass along with the 5Terre pass because I am certain that our passes covered the train because we had to validate them.

Okay - found it http://www.parconazionale5terre.it/5_terre_treno_2.asp?id_lingue=2

We had the 5Terre Train Card - I remembered paying 18 euro for 3 days which is more than just the 5Terre card. So there are two cards - if you want the train, as well as the hiking trails, get the 5Terre Train Card
