Great island to visit. Adamas is the port and has a couple of nice beaches. On the other side of the island is Polonia which has great beaches and the most fantastic fish restaurant opposite the bus stop. Both of these are connected by bus and I would suggest a few days in each. The best place to help you is braukat@otenet.gr who are very good, very helpful people (Leonadis and Marianna) and they will be able to point you in all the right directions with your budget.

Give Milos my love!!!

Actually, since you have internet access, you might as well do the booking(s) yourself. Why pay more by utilizing a travel agent?

Just look at www.milos-hotels.org for a complete list of all hotels in Milos. It includes ALL hotel members of the Hoteliers Association of Milos, a guarantee that each and every one are accredited by the Greek National Tourism Association (GNTO). The site does not include rooms-for-rent establishments, some of which may call themselves a "hotel" in violation of applicable laws.

If, on the other hand, you'd prefer to let a travel agent handle everything for you, your best bet is Nikos Chronis of Riva Travel. Riva Travel is the official agent for Hellenic Seaways but can issue tickets for all ferries as well as handle airline reservations. Nikos is both a regular and a marine travel agent, and also operates Nikos' Cars, a car rental agency from the same location, the only smoke-free travel agency in Adamas.

Having said all that, here are my recommendations, a by no means exhaustive list:

If you'd rather be in or close to the port of Adamas, the largest village of Milos and main port of the island, check out Hotel Eleni for a traditional, Cycladic-style, newly-built hotel, or Hotel Apartments Aphrodite of Milos for a self-catering establishment, both within walking distance to the village center.

Right at the village center but arguably not in the most quiet area, are Hotel Portiani and Captain Georgandas, with Hotel Dionysis and Hotel Semiramis nearby.

A bit further west are Hotel Anezina and Hotel Aeolis, as well as Milos Hotel.

On the east side of Adamas there are Ippocampos, Rigas, Ostria and Santa-Maria.

If you are looking for a more remote location, Golden Milos Beach in Provatas is one of the best hotels in Milos.

The fishing village of Pollonia has only one hotel, Glaronissia, but several, quaint, rooms for rent establishments, all close to the beach. I'd suggest you look at Captain Stavros, Niki-Savvas, MaryElen, Kalimera rooms, Kapetan Tasos, and Kostantakis studios.

More rooms for rent (not hotels) but decent accommodations include Tilemahos studios in Adamas, Limeri in Sarakiniko, Iliovasilema at the far end of Papikinou beach, 20 min. from Adamas along the coastal road, and Artemis Bungalows in Paliochori, arguably the best beach of Milos.
