We are staying near kolymbari in september but we have a hire car so chania or that area would be great if you could give me some advice?....

Drive to Elafonissi beach, about 1.30 from Chania. A most perfect tropical-looking beach. Pink sand, turquoise water...

I don't know of anywhere that does regular dance and music shows (apart from tourist "Cretan nights") your best bet is to ask around to see if there are any lyra performances locally or if you can read Greek, check the telgraph poles for posters. For dancing, you will just have to hope you strike lucky.
