Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Brisbane Brisbane Suburbs

I'm a student moving to Brisbane in Feb 08 for university. I've never been anywhere in Australia so I'm just wondering where is the best place to live while attending QUT in Kelvin Grove? I want to be within walking distance of the city centre or on a really good train/bus route that isn't too far. Grocery stores close by would be great and somewhere safe for running or keeping active.
Also where are the best night life areas(ie. pubs, cafes etc) where both students and non-students go out??
Thanks in advance!!!

This website's good, here's the link for Carseldine, where the campus is.

I had many good nights out in Fortitude Valley, there's a lot of bars around there, something for everyone. I stayed in New Farm for 3 weeks, there's a few shops, cheap supermarket, i walked into the city by the river, but there's good busses too.
I've had a bit of a google but can't seem to place Carseldine within Brisbane, there's some VTers who live there whom I'm sure will be along to help!
Good luck.

Kelvin Grove has accomodation on campus which has only just been finished. It is the best place to live according to our daughter who went to QUT. Carseldine is about 20 minutes by train north and has some QUT courses - teaching. QUT has a good bus service and many students live in the city and Westend which have good bus transport.
