Positano Positano in October
Posted: Thu August 16, 2007 06:24 AM UTC
Hi there,

I'm travelling to Positano on 5-9 October and need to check if the weather will be good at this time of year or is it a 50/50 risk?

Also, I've been told the town closes down a bit around this time - is this correct?

Anyone - please help, I'm panicking!!

:) b.

The weather is very nice, but it starts the rainy season. Oh, and don't forget to bring your wallet, that town is $$$$$$$.
PS Check our Amalfi town when your there... loved it.

Ciao,

Positano is beautiful in October! I have been four times since 1999, always in October. My sister and I are going
again Oct 1-8. We can only remember one rainy day. At 2 am
we can walk up the hill in short sleeves and we always
leave the window open at night. We feel very safe and
very happy when we are in Positano. We hang out at "La
Zagara"and listen to the band tell it closes around 1:30am.

Have a wonderful trip!

Positano in early October is great. The weather is warm - it hardly rains at all. It is less crowded than in the height of Summer and really pleasant to stroll around town without being jostled by crowds. Positano doesn't actually start closing down until mid to late November. In fact if you visited at Christmas/New Year you will still find some hotels and restaurants open for the festivities of the season. One Xmas it was so warm I remember lying on the beach in a sleeveless top that I had on under my sweater. It is safe to say that in early October you will have a very pleasant stay in Positano. Don't panic! :) Have a great time.

My wife and I were there mid-September last year. Weather was generally good. We even rented beach chairs at the Spiaggia Grande (main beach) and got some suntan!

You may get occasional passing showers, lasting very short time (minutes to less than an hour) - won't deter your activities!

As I recall, all restaurants were still open at that time.

Enjoy!
