I was a teacher on a student trip to Italy. Found the tourist crush a pain in Rome, Siena & Florence. Then I took a weekend off and drove alone to the Abruzzi. Loved it. Mountains, clean air, old unspoiled little towns, no foreign tourists. I want to take a small student trip to the Abruzzi next year, but it's hard to find information. If anyone knows the area around Leonessa, Rieti, I'd be grateful to read your story. Hotels? Trekking trails? Excursions?
