Taejon Visiting Daejeon (October 2007)
Posted: Wed August 15, 2007 05:53 AM UTC
I will be at Seoul for a work meeting in Oct 2007, and is thinking of visiting Daejeon for 2-3 days after that.

Have anyone been to Daejeon before? Is it worth visiting, and what are the major attractions of this city and its surroundings? Hope someone can help me with some information.

Regards
Victor

I was last there in 1993 for the World Expo, but don't know much about it since then. I do know that they finally got a subway last year, but it is only one line. Anyway, here is a link to the city's website so you can decide for yourself if you should go and what you can do there.

What made you choose Daejeon?

Hi Al

Thanks a lot for the website, I will go and check it out!

Basically I choose Daejeon because of the following reasons:
- It is not that far away from Seoul (about 2 hours by bus), I do not want to go somewhere too far away from Seoul (so places like Daegu, Busan, Gwangju etc are out).
- I have been to the Mount Sorak area, Suwon etc, so those places also out for me.
- There are regulat daily buses from Seoul to Daejeon, and Daejeon to Incheon Airport so transportation should not be a problem.
- Daejeon is rather non-touristy, so it is rather interesting. Also, I heard the surrounding sceneries are quite good too.
- Also, there are hot springs in Daejeon, so that is a bonus :)
