Province d' Agadir Money exchange in Agadir
Posted: Tue August 14, 2007 04:46 PM UTC
We will be arriving by cruise ship on a Saturday in Agadir. Is it possible to exchange money at a bank on a Saturday. If not, how would you suggest we obtain some dirhams?

Thank you.

Moroccan currency is not available outside of the country but is easily available at Bureau de Change at ports and airports. Travellers cheques are not so popular so do not bother with them. Cash from any country is acceptable for exchange but be advised that notes must be in perfect condition with no tears, ink marks etc.
There is no shortage of cash machines in Agadir and you may be able to take out a max of 2000Dh or 4000Dh depending on your bank.
Be sure to advise your bank you are going to Morocco in order to avoid them putting a stop on its usage.
Don't bother fiddling about with Euros to pay bills, just change your currency into Dirhams and stick with them as usually the traders round down the value of the Euro to 10Dh instead of the correct 11.2 or so maening you pay more for your goods.

Great tip, John. I'm glad to hear..as will the rest of my party, that we can get money from the bank machines.

I always notify my cc company of foreign travels..and will check with my bank about using the ATM card..although I'm sure that will be fine.

Are we allowed to take any leftover money out of the country?

Thank you again for your help..it is appreciated!
