Hello everybody!

We are two girls from Lithuania now going to study for our Masters in Tilburg...We just came to Tilburg and now we are quite desperate in searching for a place to rent! Maybe any of you knows some cheap place for rent or some people that are looking for flatmates?

Thanks a lot for any advice!!!!

You might also want to try nearby Breda. A very nice city and only a 13 minute train ride from Tilburg.

According to my newspaper (which published an article about the housing situation in the Dutch student towns) Tilburg has a waiting list of 2 months.
I expect some present room offers may be overpriced or "bad" housing.

http://woningen.tweedehands.net/te-huur-noord-brabant/

you could try eindhoven as well its 30 min by train but very good connection every 15 min
good luck Carin

Thank you all for answering! We still don't have the place, but we're trying all these rent websites, we sent reactions in kamernet.nl and put our own advertisments in University. I hope it will work ( we're just the third day in Tilburg, so I understand that we don't get the results that fast )
And maybe any of you know any antikraak places in Tilburg? I heard it's a cheap option for rent, but we didn't find anything in Tilburg...

Via the university website (http://www.uvt.nl/univers/nieuws/0405/01/antikraak.html) there is info about antikraak.
In short this is what it says:
You can call the town council: Meldpunt Vastgoedbeheer (Tel. 013-5408356) and have yourself be put on a waiting list.
Or contact housing corporations (woningcoöperaties) named Tiwos and Wonen Breburg in Tilburg.
www.tiwos.nl and www.wonenbreburg.nl/

If they get you a place, be aware of some downsides: the waiting list is about 200 and it takes about 2 years to get a home assigned. No home maintenance and they may give you only a month notice if they need the building again.
Upsides: only 113.45 euro rent per month, no registration costs.

Another tip: ask the town council for temporary living space in the Spoorzone area (center). You will pay normal rent rates but you'll have a longer guarantee that you can live there.

Antikraak intake requirements:

Age: 18 years minimal
No kids
No pets
Valid Dutch passport
Talking and writing Dutch
Insurance for domestic accidents
Minimal income
Flexibel (you have to move if the owner can rent/sell the place)
