| Flagstaff | looking for a bar I visited years ago... (lots of 12 point bucks) Posted: Tue August 14, 2007 02:33 AM UTC
I was in Flagstaff about 15 years ago and went to a great bar downtown. What I remember most about the place was that there were mounted deer heads hanging all along the walls and every single one of them was a 12 point buck! I'm going to be visiting next month and I'd love to find the place again. Does anyone have any idea what the name of it is and if the place is still there?
Thanks in advance. - Chris |

Chris, Was it Black Bart's? I seem to recall stuffed animals all around, bar with swinging doors, but don't remember 12 pointers. Bart's is not quite what I would call downtown. We will be at the Monte Vista (train noise and all) next week when I move my daughter into her dorm. I will take a look in some of the local joints. Karl

No it wasn't Black Barts. It was a smaller sort of dive bar within walking distance of the place I was staying on E. Birch Street.
I'm looking forward to finally visiting Flagstaff again.

Are you sure it was on Birch and not Aspen? I don't know that there are any bars on Birch.
The Monte Vista? Mogollon Brewing Company? I'd think the latter, but the entrance to that is in an alley off San Francisco and Aspen.

Lots of bars in that area, 25 years ago after being at Joes bar, near the train station or on the corner of the road to the canyon. I got engaged that night. Don't remember deer heads, but pool tables and a deaf Indian named Norman. Ring any bells?

I will be in Flafstaff tomorrow night and will look for those elusive, but apparently well hung, 12 pointers.

Made a few inquiries to the locals, looked in a few old town bars. No 12 pointers to point a 30 caliber at. On the plus side, many good looking college students at the Monte Vista. Sometimes it sucks to be a parent.... ;-)
