| Belgrade | From airport to city (by taxi?) Posted: Mon August 13, 2007 03:51 PM UTC
I understood it would be wise to use taxies instead of buses, so what does it cost from airport to city by taxi? How long it takes? Should I negotiate about the price, or do they use taxi-meters there?

Keti,
two days ago we landed up on the station with many heavy boxes full of computer stuff. I had no mood to run around, so we took a cab from Savski Trg to Andric'ev Venac after agreing with the driver to pay 200 Din. Was it expensive? (The rest was hilarious, the hosts expected two Yanks)

We just walked a bit outside of the station and I stopped a car on the street, not the one which was waiting at the station. Within a month, that was my second trip to the "White Fortress", this time for job issues.
BTW: it turned out, Goran Bregovic' is one of my customers, wow. (But his colleague is not too happy, my stuff does not work for him as expected).

Airport has own web site, http://www.airport-belgrade.co.yu/code/navigate.php?Id=54
This is pretty useful: http://www.airport-belgrade.co.yu/code/navigate.php?Id=106 Some taxi companies have their web sites on the above, same with busses, etc. Taxi is IMHO good if there is a party, otherwise bus seem to be indeed better. The N. Tesla airport is extremely simple and pretty clean. I did even find a free Internet service inside of the post office. (If a passenger does not have a laptop with wireless it's not free, but for laptops with wireless it is).

Ok, I find by myself: the JAT bus goes to Slavija Square, which is quite near to Kosovska. Ticket price: 160 CSD.

replying to myself.. all those buses mentioned at http://www.airport-belgrade.co.yu/code/navigate.php?Id=106 are going very near to Kosovska. Seems like I've chosen a very central spot for my accommodation :)

Well, how about GSP line 72, from Nikola Tesla to Zeleni Venac? Costs 46 CLD (how much is that?), less than one third of that JAT bus? Looks like Zeleni Venac would be even nearer to Kosovska than Slavija is?
