I am going to be in Israel for 4 days in October. I wanted to spend 1 day in Petra. Any suggestions on how to get there? Would you recommend going with a tour or hiring a private guide/driver?

I would recommend spending one night (at least) in Petra. Don't try to do this as a day trip--the travel time is considerable and you won't get nearly enough time at Petra.

I would recommend you stay one night in Petra. When I went to visit Petra I spent one day, just walking. I hadn’t idea it was so big. If you have a guide book would not be necessary a guide… Good luck!

I need to ask you a question: How much it cost to go from Jerusalem or Tel Aviv to Petra?????
It is there any train or bus or it is better to rent a car???? If you sugest to spend 1 night, is there any youth hostel in petra???? We are going to be in Tel aviv and we have only 1 day 1/2 to go there, but I really thing it is worth it..... please let me know the most affortable way ( maybe renting a car!!!) so we can arrange to go....
