Bangkok to Angkor Wat: fly or drive?
Posted: Sun August 12, 2007 07:25 AM UTC
I'm thinking of going to Thailand in December/January and I want to see Angkor Wat in Cambodia while I'm in the region. I've read about the flight pass. If I buy four coupons, one round trip from bkk to Cambodia and one round trip from bkk to phuket, the total would be $290, correct. ($90 each way on international and $55 each way on domestic, taxes not included). And how much can I expect the taxes to be?

Is traveling by land just too much of a hassle?

For lots of info about the overland route check out the Cambodia Overland section of www.talesofasia.com. You will see that the author (an american expat living in Cambodia) does not have a very high opinion of the travel agents who organise the bus/taxi overland trips

I just read the link... I'm curious if you could just fly to Cambodia and then take the overland route back as you would avoid the trouble coming into the country. I would rather fly both ways, but I have to consider all options as I'm trying to stick to a budget.
