| Verona | Drive into Venice or leave car in Verona & catch the train? Posted: Sat August 11, 2007 05:18 AM UTC
From Verona should we drive our car into Venice & park it at a long term carpark(we are staying for 4 nights in Venice) or should we leave our car in a long term carpark in Verona & catch the train to Venice for the 4 nights. Which is the cheapest & safest option? Thank you.

You can go to Venice and park your car at Piazzale Roma; near the train station. Otherwise you can try to park in Mestre. This city is not far from Venice.

I have to say that I cannot see an upside to taking your car as the train station is closer (albeit marginally) than the car park at Piazzale Roma to the centre of Venice.
While in Venice there is absolutely no use for your car, as Venice and its surrounding islands are only accessable by boat. Verona and Venice? I am so jealous! Have a great trip, Billy

I am assuming that the car is a rental and your airport of departure is Verona.
If this is the case, then you may as well leave the car in Verona. If, however, you ae flying out of Venice, then I woyld take the car to Venice. As well as Piazale Roma, there is a large parking area at Giulian Park at Mestre. Parking costs 4 euros per day. You can take a train across the lagoon from Mestre to St. Lucia. Cars and Venice do not mix. It is almost always better to leave your car (wherever) than to bring it close to the city.
