Juneau Good Resturant in Juneau, Alaska
Posted: Fri August 10, 2007 06:00 AM UTC
We have one night and would like to enjoy a nice meal. We are open for any type of food and money is not a concern. Looking for a place to relax and have a nice bottle of wine.

I would search chowhound.com. I have been there but could barely remember the few bars I visited....or was it bears?

The Twisted Fish is tops - it's right beside the Mount Roberts tramway on the dock. Great view and food.

You don't say when you're coming, so I won't suggest places that are only open a few months out of each year (like the Twisted Fish!) If you're a "foodie" and want something that can't be purchased in the local Costco, you'll have to make a reservation for a private dinner... I'm sure several of the B&B's in the area could accommodate some basic home cooking. The only truly great private dinners I've run into were at the Alaska Wolf Lodge...

There's always the Baranof Gold Room... food has gone down-hill over the past 3 years.
Zen... I'm tired of their lower-end wine list, however.
No wine, but the Sandpiper Cafe is rumored to be serving dinners sometime soon... they feature elk, yak and emu burgers and steaks, as well as the only Kobe Beef I've seen in town, albeit as a hamburger.

Happy Alaska Travels!
