| Zermatt | How many days Posted: Tue August 7, 2007 03:16 PM UTC
How many days should I stay in Zermatt? Is two days enough, or should I make it three or four?

Clayton, I skiid there for a day and got the flavor of the town. There are many small shops and it is cool to walk around, but the place is not that big. In the summer there are many hiking trails. But if I went back it would only be for a couple of days. Karl

I would say more than 2days.By the time you have been up to Gornergrat on the cog train and had a wander around you will need other days for trips up to Klein Matterhorn and Rothorn on cable cars.If you have 3 full days that should be enough but we always stay at least 5 but then we love it so much we don't want to leave.

Clayton, don't know if you've gone already. It is difficult to answer your question so I will try and give you some information. Your answer depends on what you want out of going to Zermatt. I see so many "tourists" run in and out of this area. It is really spectacular if you enjoy the outdoors. If you want to enjoy the outdoors, hike, or ski I do not think two days is sufficient. Do get up into the mountains. It is expensive, especially with the low dollar.
There are several passes that will allow 1/2 price tickets. Go to the zermatt.ch website. Click on the british flag. Then go to the lifts and gonergrat train menus and click in. Look for price. At the bottom it will tell you which passes are good for half fares-not for skiing, however. Also it is possible that when you arrive, the weather could be overcast. What is the point of going so far and not seeing the views. Hope this is helpful.
