| Vancouver Island | How necessary are reservations at RV parks on the Island and other questions. Posted: Mon August 6, 2007 05:45 PM UTC
My wife and I are coming to VI next week and hiring an RV near Victoria. I have booked a pitch for the first night, but not for any of the other 6 we will be there.
How necessary is it to book ahead at this time of the year (August) in order to be sure of a pitch ? We intend to travel up the main highway from Victoria via Campbell River to Telegraph Cove and stopping at places along the way. How many gravel roads am I likely to encounter as my RV rental excludes the vehicles use on them ? Finally I have been seeing references to RV Parks and RV Resorts. There seems to be a difference - what is it ? |

Since you haven't provided info as to where you're heading it's difficult to advise you-in case we don't use the term 'pitch'.
If you're heading to the West Coast of the Island you'll definitely need reservations. Very few gravel roads where RV'ers go-no worries.

Thanks for the response Sam Salmon.
We went to Vancouver Island and really enjoyed it. We did not experience any great difficulty in getting an RV site even though we had not booked ahead (August). We stayed at Little Rock RV Park on the way up to Telegraph Cove and at a park in Comox on the way back. We also got one of the best sites on the Victoria RV park overlooking the harbour and the city. Stayed at Alders Bay Resort near Telegraph Cove and also had a really nice site overlooking the sea.
