Saludos 2 all. The terracota army is a fantastic place to see. The complex is very big. First see the movie that explains how this army came to be, at the site. Just outside the theater is the gift store where u can purchase a book of the whole museum and get it signed by the man who discovered the army. (yes he is still alive) (book w/signature cost me 20 Dlls.) Walk through the whole exhibit and dont forget to get your picture taken with your face in the place of a soldier, general or archer. They come out just great. There is a cafeteria and another museum. You can purchase terracota figurines and 5 piece sets for just 1 dollar as you leave the gates where you purchased entry ticket. There are many stores on your walk back to parking. I advise u not purchase fur goods since they are made of dog fur, made to look like other species. Bargain ,bargain and bargain and you will be suprised to see how in-expensive you can purchase many, many things. On your way back to city stop at big park where many emperors are buried. There is one large tomb you can enter. If you take tour, ask them to stop at geology museum (rocks) its unique. Enjoy. I did.

While in Xian there are a few other sites to see, including a royal spa/ bath from the Qing dynasty. (Besides the older historic value, this was the site of a brief incident during the revolution, between Chiang Kai Shek and the Communists.)
There is a brand new (well, it was brand new 2 years ago!) fountain downtown. It is hard to describe, but I'll try. They have shows at night, where the jets of water come off and on to music, with different colored lights. It is a really nice show, and attracts a lot of people. The provincial art/ history museum was quite nice, with many display signs in English and Chinese. The city is extremely hot in the summer, although it's also dry. Regards, bpritts

The admission is actually currently 90 RMB (peak season), not 95 RMB. You get half price if you have a student card.
Best YEAR to visit?! Any year... Read any guidebook (or search online) and you'll find out about opening hours and what's exhibited there.
