moving to Swansea

I'm moving to your lovely ugly city in two weeks. Do you have any advice what to expect, where to go, what to take? I have many questions e.g. where should I go to set up internet access. what should I know about buses etc.

regards and thanx in advance for replies

Ugly city? lol..... a touch of humour I think? You will find that the people of Swansea are very friendly. It is not a big city so most that you will need (shops, bars, restaurants, clubs) are all within walking distance of each other.
Internet access will depend on the telephone connection at the place you are staying. The other alternative is to find an internet cafe, go to the library and use a computer there or look for a wi-fi hotspot.
Buses are frequent and all leave from the Quadrant Bus station in the heart of the city and travel to all parts of the UK.

She is being erudite and referring to Dylan Thomas's description of his home town, and 'ugly lovely' town ;)

Replying with erudition,it was also part of a quote from the film Twin Town, so I hope that she was quoting Thomas and not Greyo.

Actually it seems that ugly and lovely together are the most common adjectives used to describe Swansea- at least on the internet:)
But I hope it's gonna be more lovely than ugly for me. Poets may have their own world and vision but I just want to live simple, lovely life;) I'm coming in 12 days:)
thanx for replies and let me know if you have any more advice/ hints.

Enjoy your stay in Swansea. I lived there for several years and my son and his family still live there.
PS - Dylan Thomas was an alcoholic, so his interpretation of Swansea was clouded by alcohol fumes most of the time. I remember my grandfather telling me how he and his friends used to help Dylan out of the local pub and onto his horse and trap after a heavy night drinking. The horse knew his own way home. Why cannot cars do the same!? haha
