HI!
I may not be right but as long as you stayed within the airport for the transit, it should be alright, since you are not stepping into Australia, where these things are on the inspection list along with anything floral, fauna or dairy in origin. An alternative is to have them packed up and carefully packed into your luggage - thisaway, you need not worry about them!

Customs regualations on what foods are brought into Australia are very strict, but chocolate and many tinned and bottled foods are allowed if they are sealed and come from reputable sources, so you should be OK.

Honey is a definate no no when bringing it into Australia, however if you are not leaving the international transit lounge you should be ok.
New Zealand customs laws are just as strict, or even stricter than Australia, so to be safe, dont bring anything that is a "natural food" through either country, even if it is wrapped.

I think she was talking about taking those items back to Singapore.
I transited Australia with banned items and they let me keep them. I picked them up later, sort of like duty free. I would say though that it depends who you get, anything is possible. And its imperative that you declare them. If they find honey and stuff that you haven't declared they'll take it for sure.

Yes the question wasnt too clear. I have seen enough episodes of border security both the NZ and Aussie one to never take food stuffs into either country.

Well there is plenty that is ok. But honey and other stuff is a big NO NO.
What is worst is not declaring it. And yes, there are many who conceal or simply "forget" they have it. I can't believe their ignorance after walking thru the corridors and countless signs warning them. Plenty of amnesty bins in both countries aren't there. oh well.... we can press home the point here as much as possible.

Chocolate is fine, honey is not.

It may be ok for a transitting passenger not clearing customs. Like I said, my package was bagged and given to me later just prior to boarding.
