I would like to find out what kind of transportation is available and feasible from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia?
I will be in Punta Arenas 5 days, and wouls like to go to Ushuaia for at least 2-3 days. Any advice appreciated. Thank you. |

By Bus -- Service from Punta Arenas, Chile, costs $21 and takes about 12 hours. Tecni Austral tel 61/222078 in Punta Arenas. Not sure if Aerovías DAP still has regular flights or charter only. In the past they did have scheduled flights for about $100 USD each way. You can contact them at tel. 02901/431110; or the web site www.aeroviasdap.cl

(te escribo en español) gracias por el dato. Estaba pensando si sera mejor irse en Bus de Punta Arenas a Ushuaia, o sera mas interesante arrendarse un auto. Que tal el viaje en auto arrendado? sera muy peligroso andar solo? Pienso viajar con un amigo, y conducir por esa zona. Que me recomiendas? muchas gracias... Andres

The driving is not easy, and sure it is possible to rent a car but since you seen to be on a tight schedule you might be safer in taking the bus or flying. If you do rent a car be sure and have them provide you the necessary papers in order for you to enter Argentina. Try this web site http://www.interpatagonia.com/puntaarenas/car-rental.html

I'm planning to make the drive between PA and UShuaia. Does anyone have a source for online maps of the area. In Europe, I would simply use google maps but down here, I'm having trouble finding anything useful!

May not have the entire route available from Chile on but at least from your entry point in Argentina to Ushuaia will be available. Suerte SAM

I am planning do the same, near september 15th, but I am not sure yet because of weather and the long-time for driving. I will be 6 days at PA and we want to go to Ushuaia.
