Waikiki after wedding dinner reception
Posted: Thu August 2, 2007 10:22 PM UTC
I am getting married in Waikiki. I have 20 people in my group. We would like to treat our guests to a dinner in the Waikiki area immediately after the wedding ceremony. Nothing fancy but certainly not too cheap. Any suggestions?

Try the Pacific Beach Hotel Oceanarium Restaurant! It's an award-winning restaurant in Hawaii.

Aloha. Ho'omaika'i to you. Hawaii, anywhere, is a great location to say the magic words "I do" for beautiful memories that will last your entire life. Best Wishes. The Outrigger Waikiki Hotel has a great restaurant that may be able to fill your desires and needs. Very famous and delicious treats of the Islands as well as many gourmet dishes. Check out there menu at website: www.dukeswaikiki.com

I see the name has changed to Kobe Steakhouse. Can't disagree with Dukes, don't know the Oceanareum. Have a great evening and Congratulations

Kobe steakhouse is very fun. It is a traditional japanese steak house where the chef cooks the meal on a tepanyaki grill right in front of you. However I'm not too sure how many people fit at a table (8 possibly)...but I'm sure you could get tables near each other.

I have to agree that Duke's is a great place. I tell everyone who goes to Hawaii about it, and they always tell me how much they loved it, upon returning home. It is a fun restaurant and bar, usually a good crowd for happy hour, with an outdoor band playing on the beach.

Also check out Roy's. Hawaiian fusion chain restaurant that originated in Waikiki.

Good Luck and Congrats!

ooooh, Roy's is always good. Don't forget the Chocolate Volcano for dessert. I think Kobe is 10 per table, Sake fogged memory, so back to back chefs will do 20 and you will all be in a small confined area that is conversable

A restaurant I like quite a bit in Waikiki is Todai's. Its about $25 a plate for all you can eat buffet. The food is high quality, and there is a good variety of it. There is more seafood probably than other types of food, but there are options like chicken and steak for those who don't like seafood.

If you wanted it special, with a class - go to the Oceanarium! Or the Shogun! Those restaurants are inside the Pacific Beach Hotel fronting Waikiki! Voted as #1 all the time!!! You will never regret it! However, because it is so popular to Hawaiian residents, you might like to reserve ahead of time!!! Todai is good but not for a wedding...Common now, it is your wedding! You need some class...Todai is an all-you can eat restaurant. They have two in Washington state...If you wanted buffet - then go to Todai - but, it is noisy - all those people getting crabs and shrimps and sushi- they get up and sit down...get up and sit down! No servers!!! Not for your wedding! No! No! No! No offense to the person who suggested Todai. I love Todai- but not for a very special occasion like a wedding. Todai is just an everyday restaurant. You can go there anytime!!! (we held our 20th high school reunion at Todai in 2001!!!oops - I am divulging my age!) Anyway, I have good experiences at those restaurants I mentioned: my daughter's baptismal reception was at the Oceanarium - upper level. It was great! 17 years later - it is still as popular as it was before!!! Number 1 to local residents!!! WE stayed at the presidential suite at Pacific Beach Hotel for a week when we were there last July 2007 and I have experienced having a reception there- I wouldn't be recommending this to you if I didn't know what I am talking about! But book ahead of time!!!

Reply to Ksmall1201, Yes Roy's is also a great choice. As for the original Roy's it was not the Waikiki location, but in Hawaii Kai (Honolulu)southeast of Waikiki, in the plaza on the way to Costco for locals and Hanauma Bay for tourists.
