Helsinki Travel Forum

Hello everyone!
I'll be spending 3 weeks in Helsinki, starting from next Monday, mainly for Helsinki Summer School (course - Wood in Construction and Architecture) but I want to experience Finland the real way, all around and as much as possible as I adore that land and am learning the language and whatnot.

That being said, I'd like to meet interesting people here who can suggest me some good places to visit (anything concerning alternative scene, a bit on the gloomy side, museums and galleries which are not in the general "to visit" list for tourists) or possibly people who are going to the same course as myself.

I somehow think that you may be staying in a place called Espoo? Just a thought...(If it's a course in wood and architecture, that may mean the organizers come from the Helsinki university of Technology which is situated in Espoo...)

There isn't very many gloomy places to go or things to do in Helsinki :( If you mean some sort of goth by gloom I can give you few tips :)
