Verona Verona Opera
Posted: Thu August 2, 2007 10:06 AM UTC
Hi!

Its my dad's 50th in two weeks and my mother is bringing him to Bologna from the 9th - 16th October and I wanted to send them both to the Verona Opera as he has ALWAYS wanted to go but I have been looking it up and from what I can gather the season ends on in September. Does anyone have any other Verona suggestions or even perhaps Venice?!?

I would really appreciate some views or past expriences as I am finding it quite hard to know what to look for!

Thanks
Alison

Get the picture. I am afraid you are out of luck with opera in verona or venice.
The last performance in Verona is Aida on 1st September and October is dead in Venice too. I was in Verona in March and found it quite boring whereas Venice would have been buzzing. If you're considering one or the other, I would recommend Venice. There's plenty to do, and although you wont be able to treat dad to a night at the opera, I feel sure he will be delighted by the sights an sounnds of Venice. You could check out my Venice pages or others.

All i can suggest is keeping an eye to the Teatro Filarmonico site, where the arena foundation plays in winter (http://www.arena.it/eng/arenaeng.urd/portal.show?c=40 schedule not done yet) for Verona, and teatro la Fenice in Venezia (http://www.teatrolafenice.it/cartellone.php)
Good luck
Francesco
