| County Kerry | Moving to Co. Kerry -need a job! Posted: Thu August 2, 2007 04:38 AM UTC
I am moving to the Dingle area after Christmas and I was hoping to find work maybe on a farm? or at a Pub. Somewhere where I can work and live( and eat)and meet other young people. I just need a bed !! I would like to stay for six months at least! Thanks anyone who has suggestions of where to stay or look!

I doubt you'll find work on a farm; farm labour nowadays tends to be skilled.
If you put 'dingle kerry jobs' into google you'll come up with several job websites which will give you an idea of what's available/wages etc. Much will depend on what skills you have to offer. Not all jobs will be advertised online, of course, but the local newspaper website has a good job search engine: www.thekerryman.ie There will be more temporary jobs available in the summer season than the early part of the year.

Thanks so much! I did the dingle job search and I came up with a few things. The reason I wanted to work on a farm was because I have read about some where they teach you to work and you get room and board. But I cannot find any in Co. Kerry.

You mean like WWOOF? http://www.wwoof.org/
It's worth keeping an eye on http://www.planorganic.com/jobswwoof.htm and http://www.farmersjournal.ie/classifieds/recruitme Good luck!

It might be worthwhile checking www.nixers.ie or www.fas.ie . FAS sometimes place jobs looking for staff in restaurants or bars :)

Where are you from? Just curious because if you are from the states it is next to impossible to obtain a work permit for Ireland since there are so many countries in the EU now.

Depends, sometimes if you have a grandparent from an EU country you can get an EU passport or a visa easily.

You might be able to get a temporary work visa--for U.S. students, this is usually for four months. Try USIT for information. This will allow you to work for the specified time, but no longer.

Yah, I am from the states. I have had no luck, some pubs told me they might need help but nothing for sure. I am just going to go visit and try to figure it out when I get there. Hopefully they like pretty girls haha! Thanks!
