Re: Bella Muzica Hotel Posted: Fri August 3, 2007 09:15 PM UTC
Hi,
I stayed in Bella Muzica for three nights last summer. We were a group of 5 adults and 2 children. The website is lovely, and does a very good job of selling this small hotel. The big plus is the location. You step out and you're in the centre of the old town, on the corner of Piata Sfatului.
When we arrived there was no-one to help us with our luggage. We asked the man at reception, but he just shrugged his shoulders and said that they don't have someone for that job! There is no lift, and hawling your luggage up two flights ain't fun! We booked one suite and three double rooms. The suite was fabulous (pictures 14 and 16 on the site), it was air conditioned, but the safety deposit box failed to work. Help from the front desk was very slow in coming to help us out with it. The instructions in English were not properly translated from the Romanian.
The double rooms were very small, and not air conditioned. (Note how ambiguous they are on the site "air conditioned - some rooms".) The ensuite shower rooms are tiny and dark. The breakfast buffet is good in that they cater for children's needs (coco pops, corn flakes, etc) as well as hot food, fresh fruit, cozonac, muesli, juice, etc.
I've travelled a lot in Romania, and am learning to turn a blind eye to the often lacking service experienced in hotels (I stay in Pensiunea accommodation anymore, much friendlier, and cheaper too). However, Bella Muzica's site and prices led me to expect better service. Generally I was disappointed and would not stay there again.
I was back in the area this summer and decided to stay in Poiana Brasov instead of Brasov, so I can't offer advice on other hotels in Brasov.
By the way, Brasov old town centre is really beautiful, there are some lovely restaurants down Str. Hirscher. Enjoy your time there.
Hope this helped.
