Hi!
You can go by train or by bus. Both are not expensive at all. If you go by train get as many discounts as you can for reduced price. Do the same with buses, maybe you`ll get lucky. Return bus ticket should not be over 50 euro.
Train will stop in Podgorica and Bar. I recommend to get off in Podgorica coz if you are a group of 4 or more you can bargain with taxi drivers. From both towns you need to catch a bus to H.Novi. Buses have very frequent schedule so it won`t be a problem to take one in the same day.
Be careful, the cost of Montenegro is overcrowded and if you don`t have accommodation booked in advance you can be caught in the net of greedy locals with nasty prices.
Herceg Novi and Kotor belongs to the Golf of Kotor. Places in the golf are small, old and just beautiful. I strongly recommend those places coz of very good nightlife and nice and small sandy beaches. Google a bit.
Bar is on the border with Albania with influence of muslim culture with mosques and covered ladies. Normally, i don`t have anything against it, but that is not the part of Montenegrian culture and rythm in general.

Hope this will help. If you have more questions don`t hesitate to ask anytime.

Jelena, thank you very much for your help!
We have nothing booked because I was hoping to organise private rooms via travel agencies as the guidebook recommends. It's suppoesed to be the cheapest option, hope these greedy locals are not those who are associated in travel agencies ;) Anyway, how much do they demand?

This year is, according to this awfull heats, there is emergency and extra ordinary mood and situation as well at the seaside. People gone crazy.
Normally, room cost 10-12 euro pp, even less if you are lucky. Today they will rent you a stinky room for 20-30 euro.
Your strategy should be like this: there are many people offering rooms at bus stations. Ask them how much and bargain with high self-esteem. Some from your group should stay to keep an eye on your things while you and your mate are searching for the room with locals. Be patient, otherwise you`ll be ripped off.
If something goes wrong, go to the police or touristic super-visor for any complains.

Good luck and have a great time!
