Philadelphia Where to eat?
Posted: Tue July 31, 2007 10:41 AM UTC
Even though I'm somewhat familiar with Philly, esp. the Center City area, there is always more to learn. 6 of us are going to the Temple/Penn State game in November. Where do you suggest we eat after the game? The group we are with are not very adventurous, but enjoy Italian, Chicken, steak, etc. It would be nice if it wasn't overly crowded, and if possible in Philly, easy to park. Thanks and Peace, Joe

hey joe!
just noticed on your page that you're a beer guy and you probably already know of this place, but being quite the beer guy myself i absolutely must recommend victory brewery's restaurant. it's just outside of philly in downingtown. can't really speak for the food (as i've never eaten there), but if it's as good as any of their beers, you're in for a real treat! speaking of victory beer, i really could go for one of their IPA's right about now! too bad i can't get em here in germany! anyway, here's the web address: http://www.victorybeer.com/restaurant.html

Thanks. I've been there several times...love their Hop Devil. Food is okay, basic pub grub.

I would recommend two Italian restaurants. One is Ralphs, which is a famous South Philly Italian restaurant. Great chicken parm, etc. All your standards. They have valet parking, but you need to pay cash for dinner. They accept no credit cards. 760 south ninth street. 215.627.6011.
another is the panorama restaurant in the penns view inn hotel, right in olde city. They serve italian food, but the highlight is their wine bar, which has over 120+ wines by the glass. Very cool. They have valet parking or you could try the garage on 2nd street between chestnut and walnut. http://www.pennsviewhotel.com/ristorante_panorama/index.aspx

If you want good beer and basic food, i highly suggest you go to Monks. It's an institution! But if you are into beer, you may have already been there. There are garages around here. 264 South 16th Street in center city.

For steak, there are some great listings on this webpage

Thanks for the input. Been to Monks and have enjoyed it. I like the sound of your other suggestions, so I'll pass the word around. Of course: Let's go Owls!
