McLeod Ganj Travel Forum

Hi,

My partner and I have a book to write and were thinking of mc leod ganj, to combine work with our spiritual search etc...

We would go for the months of september october and november this year. Don't know if this is low or high season there...???

Is it possible to rent a decent room there long term and could anyone give us an idea of prices (room and food per day per person)

We thought of buying a portable solar panel for running the laptop independently from local electricity - I heard uncertain. Now what about security?

Mc Leod Ganj is beautiful and there are always people around. Dont think theres ever a lean season in Mc Leod Ganj. There are numerous hotels which offer rooms with kitchenette by the month . Expect to spend about Rs. 6000-7000 a month for that. There are ofcourse many and I really mean many locals who would rent out a room in their homes for a fraction of that price . These however , maybe a bit of a walk from the city centre.

Food choices are again , plenty . You can get by on Rs 50 per person but expect to budget rs. 200-250 per person if you will be eating in restaurants thru out. If you plan to cook yourself , I would keep Rs 1000 per person aside for food for the month.

Electricity supply is usually okay and with the laptop's battery backup , you should be fine . Do a google search on himachal tourism or mcleod ganj hotels for more info. Hope this helps .
