Hotel Close to Gare du Nord
Posted: Mon July 30, 2007 06:11 PM UTC
Hi. I am looking for a hotel to book for my parents for 1 night in Sep. They are travelling to/from Paris by Eurostar from London so I thought it would be easiest for them to stay close to Gare du Nord.

Although I have been to Paris several times, I have never stayed in this area. Can anyone recommend a clean hotel under 110 euro/night within an easy walk of the station?

Thanks very much

Sue

I have stayed at the Terminus Nord Hotel. I am not sure it will be at that rate but maybe close. If it is it is a great value. There is a fantastic Brasserie 1 block east of the hotel if they want a good dinner option. The Oysters were very fresh, and Lobster and Monkfish under Filo is absolutely Fabulous

The immediate area (Gare du Nord) isn't one of my faves (probably not yours either), but if proximity to Gare du Nord & price are the main pre-requisites, this place (below) is right across the street from the station:
"New Hotel" ---> http://www.newhotelparis.com/English/Welcome.htm

They can book a "Large superor double room - air conditioned" (it's only a two star but looks clean) with double bed or twins (Sept will be hot, street will be noisy) for about 110Eu. (petite dejeuner in the am is probably about 12 Eu extra for both of them)

Reviews (I've never stayed in this area either) -

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187147-d242958-Reviews-New_Hotel_Gare_du_Nord-Paris_Ile_de_France.html

appear to be mostly favorable (about 3-to-1 positive: you won't get many "raves" for a two-star in this area), but since it's your parents we're talking about, I'd check it out some more if possible.

If they are not picky, and the Eu-110 price & being across the street from Gare du Nord for a quick-painless getaway in the morning are the most important features,

then if it was me, I'd reserve this hotel as a "starter-marker / standard" and then try to top it & find a nicer place / better deal for the same price or less within the same 2-street area.

Wish I could be more help, but staying by the station is what makes it a little bit of a challenge. Here's hoping someone in the vt forum has actually stayed across from the station and can recommend something better and more of a "sure thing" in your price range.

Good luck, cheers and all that

The Hotels IBIS are correct and clean for less than 100 Euros:

Yes Ibis is a very decent chain. I didn't know they had a hotel that close. Good option
