Work has taken my girlfriend away from me to Joburg. I am going to visit her in the next couple of months but my budget will only be about 1,000 rand per week, my accomodation will be free though. I'm concerned if this will be enough to live on while I'm there?

Hi there,
You don't say if meals will also be include, if so AND you are very careful, you could manage on ZAR1000/week but, if not you're looking to eat etc on ZAR142.85/day and that is not going to go very far. Sorry we couldn't be more cheerful.

You could live on R1000/week. This is about "minimum wage" out here.
