| Rarotonga | Best area to stay? Posted: Sun July 29, 2007 08:57 PM UTC
My fiance and I will be in Rarotonga around Nov. 20, 2007. What area of the island is best to find a place to stay? We are looking for good swimming/snorkeling and access to bars/food, etc.
We'd like to get a 1BR place with kitchen. |

Muri Beach is best for swimming: sandy.
Titikaveka (south) has the best snorkling but is more quite than Muri in terms of restaurants and shops (not that Muri is that crowded). Arorangi (east) is on the leeward side of the island, has beautiful beaches and out of this world sunsets. Less recommended for swimming but some places have very good snorkling. Plenty of restaurants and shops.

I have just been to Rarotonga, and I would suggest muri beach for swimming and near The Rarotongan Resort for snorkling.
