At least Thai Airways is flying from Bangkok to Khon Kaen.
There is a website, which says also Orien Thai Arline does, but I'm not sure.

YOu could take budget flights BUT you may have to transfer from BKK's International Suvarnabhumi to the old Don Muang Airport for domestic flights offered by Thai Air Asia or Nok Air.

And if you're going to have to transfer from intnl to domestic airport, then I'd suggest taking a train [the northeast line] or a VIP Bus instead to Khon Khaen. Perhaps there may be VIP buses leaving directly from the bus station that's near the new international airport.

I flew Air Asia and also took the overnight train. Both were fine. Sofitel Khon Kaen is nice.

Since we have 2 airport in BKK, airline list below

-Suvarnabhumi Airport (New Bangkok International Airport): there are Thai Airway and Thai Air Asia

-Don Muang Airport : there are Nok Air and 1-2-go orient thai

Note:you can search the airline website by google their name and make a reservation through airline website
